From 2015 to 2017 I taught as part of the faculty team for Immersion in the Arts: Living in Culture (known as ITALIC for short), a selective interdisciplinary visual and performing arts program for freshmen at Stanford. I worked with six colleagues to deliver an innovative arts curriculum to a cohort of 45 students. ITALIC students live in a single dorm (Burbank) where classrooms and offices are also located, creating a unique residential learning experience. I delivered lectures and led discussions on a wide range of topics, including opera (Aida and Don Giovanni), musical theater (Hairspray, Fun Home, and High School Musical), dance (Swan Lake and The Rite of Spring), and the BBC documentary series Planet Earth.
